Jennings added,
"The opportunity to work alongside leaders like David Abel and Steve Hunter at Scripps, which believes in building local brands, is thrilling. It's the kind of radio that breeds passionate, winning teams, and I can't wait to join the TULSA team."

Here’s The Official Word: Entercom And CBS Radio Merge Including words From CEO David Field

Entercom has closed on the acquisition of CBS Radio in a merger that gives the combined company a nationwide footprint of 244 stations, including 23 of the Top 25 markets.  The closing brings to fruition the deal that was first announced in last February.

“We are thrilled to officially close our transformational merger with CBS Radio and welcome their talented employees and iconic brands to Entercom,” said President/CEO David Field. “We look forward to capitalizing on our unique positions in sports, news, music, podcasting, live events, digital and more to provide outstanding experiences for our listeners and compelling integrated marketing opportunities for our advertisers. We now have the scale and capabilities to drive meaningful growth and to compete more effectively with other media for a larger share of advertising dollars. We also look forward to helping to elevate the Radio industry, which remains massively undervalued by advertisers despite having emerged as America’s #1 Reach medium, delivering outstanding ROI to customers.”

One of the first items on the merged company's agenda came to completion at midnight, when Country KSON/San Diego moved from 97.3 FM to 103.7 FM.  On 97.3 FM, a looped message directed listeners to switch frequencies to hear the Country format, while also announcing that the Top 40 format of KEGY/Energy 103.7 would be returning on 97.3 on Monday morning.

Also, the station in the market spun off by Entercom to Educational Media Foundation, KSOQ/Escondido, dropped its simulcast of KSON for EMF's Contemporary Christian AIR 1 format with new calls KYDQ.

Stay tuned to AllAboutCountry as more changes across the country are in the rumor mill.

Field memoed the new combined staff, writing:

"It is with great pleasure that I write to inform you that we have officially completed our merger! We are now one company! And so with great respect and appreciation for the former CBS Radio and its extraordinary history and achievements, we usher in a new era in which these two proud and great organizations will join as one to create a preeminent industry leader with the scale, team, brands, focus, resources and will to build something truly special.

Today marks the end of a near two-year journey to complete this historic, transformational merger that has created an incredibly exciting new company with truly game-changing power and potential. Now we begin a new journey together.

We have an amazing opportunity to make history and to transform not only our company, but all of Radio and even the broader media landscape. And we start our journey in a terrific position. We are a leading American media and entertainment company reaching and engaging over 100 million people each week through a premier collection of highly rated, award winning radio stations, digital platforms and live events. We are the country’s #1 creator of live, original, local audio content and the unrivaled leader in news and sports radio. We are the nation’s #2 podcaster and #1 or #2 in virtually every music format. We are one of the country’s two largest radio broadcasters, at virtual parity with iHeart in the country’s top 50 markets. We have built a terrific, best-in-class team from CBS Radio, Entercom and many other organizations. We have an excellent financial position, providing us with the stability and resources to compete aggressively. And now, we also have the scale to compete more effectively with other media for a significantly larger share of advertiser dollars.

Those of you in our new markets will notice some changes. We will play to win. We are done playing defense; it is time to play offense. We plan to make big investments in our brands, people, capabilities and innovation. We are also done apologizing about Radio, America’s #1 Reach medium, which is massively undervalued and offers superior ROI to other media competitors. We will be a passionate, collaborative, confident, learning organization that moves decisively and boldly and eschews silos, politics and unnecessary paperwork. As in any industry these days, there will be some bumps in the road along the way, but I pledge to you we will always aspire to be great and set our sights high.

There will be much more to come in the hours and days ahead, but for now I welcome you to the new Entercom and want you to know how excited I am about our future together. I have attached a video welcome to share some additional thoughts. And we will be holding a company-wide town hall on

Tuesday during which I will discuss our shared values and principles and some further thoughts on the road ahead.

I want to take this opportunity to thank those individuals who worked tirelessly and effectively over so many long months to get us to this point. First and foremost, I would like to recognize Andrew Sutor for his truly extraordinary, heroic work spearheading all of our legal and regulatory efforts over the past year. I also want to recognize Weezie Kramer, Rich Schmaeling, Pat Paxton, Jenny Nelson, Bob Philips, Ruth Gaviria, Pat Cunnane, Deborah Kane, John Graefe, Chris Pimental, Gene Levin, Noreen McCormack, Esther-Mireya Tejada, Mike Dash, Carmela Masi, Johnny Palumbo, Amy Farley Prophet, and so many, many more, for all of their outstanding efforts to enable us to close the transaction and hit the ground running. I am grateful to all of you.

I also want to thank and acknowledge Les Moonves and Joe Ianniello for their leadership and all of their efforts to lead us to such a successful outcome for both companies.
As Les stated last month, Entercom provides investors with “the opportunity to invest in what we believe will be a best-in-class radio company, with top assets and a terrific management team.” We look forward to having a great working relationship with CBS for many years to come.

I will close in the words of Michelangelo who said, “the greatest danger isn’t that our aim is too high and we miss is, but that it is too low and we reach it.” We will live by those words as we embark on this exciting journey.

All eyes will be on us in the days and months ahead. We have a window of opportunity to elevate our game and get listeners, customers, partners, and others excited by what we are working to build. Let’s get off to a terrific start as one team and show the world what we are capable of achieving. Congratulations and all best wishes to each of you,"

Country Artist Travis Rice Drowns in Heartache with Brand New Single,Sinking Ship

Coming off the success of his sultry and steamy single, Don’t Waste The Rain, Travis Rice is back with an emotional masterpiece. His brand new single, Sinking Ship, will tug at your heart strings with its haunting melody and Rice’s rugged vocals. The song is available on iTunes and all digital retailers today, Friday, November 17, 2017.

He also released an accompanying music video to the song, which can be found on YouTube and already airing on The Country Network. You can view the music video HERE and check your local listings for TV affiliate and scheduled air times for The Country Network.

This song, written by Rice himself captures the raw pain of loss. “I think most of us can relate to the scenario that we know something or someone that’s not right for us, but it feels so great at the time that the rush of it makes us untie the bowlines and rush out to the open ocean just to discover that we’re in a perfect storm where we are stranded…no one is coming for us and we’re all alone,” says Rice. “It was easy to write this song in a very truthful and genuine way because I was just describing things that most of us feel sometime in our life.”

The music video to Sinking Ship was filmed at 1087 Studios by Jake Parker of Common Era Productions. The video’s somber setting compliments the tone of the song without distracting from Rice’s raw, acoustic, intimate performance.

Rice kicked off 2017 on a high note as being named one of the “Top 10 Sexy Men of Nashville.” Since then, he proved that to be true by showing his sultry side with Don’t Waste The Rain. He received critical praise from radio stations by saying “That’s some good country music right there,” “It’ll give the majors a run for the money,” “What a sweet, sexy and talented guy he is,” and “He has the voice that people are looking for.” This song, which also accompanies a music video that has over 230k views, also climbed The Fan Voted Chart all the way to #3, competing as the only independent artist in the Top 5 during that time.

With bold vocals and a rugged allure, this Tennessee native has shared the stage with Colt Ford, Craig Morgan, Randy Travis, Travis Tritt, among others. He has been receiving positive feedback since his debut release in 2016, Women, Water and Beer. This upbeat country-rooted song earned him the DisCovery Award from renowned music critic Robert K. Oermann and “…the next big male country star in country music” from Digital Journal. With real emotion embedded in his songs, Rice is destined to remind fans and performers why we all love and connect with country music.

Blake Shelton Named People's 'Sexiest Man Alive'

For days, rumors spun that Warner Bros./WMN's Blake Shelton, who doubles-down on his celebrity status by serving as a judge on NBC-TV's "The Voice," would be named People's "Sexiest Man Alive" this year. The official word came last night (11/14), and Shelton has been named People's "Sexiest Man Alive," becoming the first Country artist to hold the title since People began celebrating attractive men back in 1985. "Like, wow, we're down to somebody who is somewhat symmetrical," quipped Shelton, whose sex appeal gets a boost from his winning personality, to People.

Additionally, only one other musical artist has held the title -- Shelton's fellow "The Voice" judge, Adam Levine, who reigned supreme in 2013.
"I can't wait to shove this up Adam's ass," Shelton told People. "As proud as I am and honored that you guys asked me, that's really the only thing I care about." See Shelton begin to rub it in with a little video message to Levin here.

People
most often crowns screen actors as "Sexiest Man Alive" with the likes Of Richard Gere, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Johnny Depp each earning the title twice. The win for Shelton serves to cement the growing popularity of Country music and its artists both as musicians and pop culture icons.

Tim Roberts Gets High Praise

As was reported here yesterday, Entercom named their format captains in the newly-merged company with CBS Radio yesterday saying KWJJ/Portland's Mike Moore will retain that role for Country.  CBS Radio EVP/Programming Chris Oliviero had strong praise for longtime WYCD/Detroit PD Tim Roberts, who had doubled as CBS Radio VP/Country since February.

I just wanted to follow-up specifically with the Country PD group to thank Tim Roberts for his outstanding leadership as our Country Vice President at CBS Radio," said Oliviero. "As I said when we named Tim to this position, there is no one in my mind who understands the audience, the artists, and labels of Nashville today quite like Tim."

Roberts will continue as VP/Music Programming for the Detroit cluster, with day-to-day programming of WYCD.  Get in touch with Roberts here

Entercom's KSON Goes For Frequency Change

Entercom Country KSON/San Diego will undergo a frequency change on  Friday, November 17 at noon (PT).  The station website says, "We reset our preset and update our radio address."

Currently at its longtime 97.3 position, KSON will likely move to 103.7, the current home of CBS Radio Top 40 KEGY, which is part of the Entercom-CBS Radio merger set to close Friday.   Also acquired from CBS Radio in the merger, AC KYXY.

KSON has been simulcast on 92.1 KSOQ in Escondido, CA but that will end due to Entercom having to divest the signal to Educations Media Foundation.  They plan to flip it to Contemporary Christian.  If speculation is currect, and 103.7 is the new dial positioin for KSON, it will give the station a much stronger footprint in the North County area of the market.
